Southeast Rafting: South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia,
North Carolina, West Virginia
Rafting in the southeastern states of America is lots of
fun. Rivers run through the hills and down the valleys that dominate this
region. Warm water, intricate and exciting whitewater, big wave rapids, idyllic
lush canyons, and friendly folks are found on the rivers of Tennessee, Georgia,
South Carolina, North Carolina, and West Virginia.
The Chattooga river
in Georgia has a number of sections that are fantastic for family river
adventures. The Ocoee and Pigeon rivers in Tennessee run strong all spring,
summer and fall and have stretches well suited to families. In
North Carolina, you may want to try and
run the Nantahala river or others with your kids as it is a fun and rewarding
waterway. In West Virginia, the New river and others are good choices. The New
is the second oldest river on earth and has some nice big wave whitewater. And
that leaves South Carolina, which also has the Chattoga river (it forms the
border with Georgia) and is ideal for family river trips!
